Three Children

This painting by George Bellows depicts a scene from a family vacation to Middletown, Rhode Island and includes his two daughters and the son of a local farmer. Bellows studied under Robert Henri and was associated with the Ashcan School, which was characterized by scenes portraying daily life in New York City, particularly the poorer neighborhoods.
